Belmont Stakes Betting Sites to Avoid

Unfortunately, there are plenty of Belmont Stakes betting sites to avoid in the US. Not every site can be trusted so proceed with caution. Your best bet for finding a safe and trustworthy racing sportsbook is to stick with the ones we recommend on this page.

How to Pick the Best Belmont Stakes Betting Sites

If you are wondering how to pick the best Belmont Stakes betting sites, we have you covered. First of all, check to see is the site fully licensed to operate in your state? If the site is legal, then there are a few other aspects to consider.

Promotions, odds, mobile app quality and the range of available wagers are all key features to weigh up. It is also very important to check whether your preferred payment method is accepted and if fees apply to deposits or withdrawals.

  • Licenses

States issue licenses and regulations vary depending on the jurisdiction. Make sure your Belmont Betting site has the correct license.

  • Mobile apps

Most betting sites have bespoke apps for android and iOS devices. It is worth trying them out if you want to bet on the Belmont Stakes on mobile.

  • Selection of racing bets

Some Belmont Stakes betting sites have a bigger selection of racing bets than others. Don’t forget to check that your favored wager type is accepted before signing up.

  • Odds

Getting the best Belmont Stakes odds is imperative, especially futures wagers. Some betting sites have better odds than others, so shop around.

  • Belmont Stakes betting bonuses

Watch out for Belmont Stakes betting bonuses and offers on race day. You might get money back if you finish 2nd and exacta/trifecta bonuses are often available too.

  • Payment methods

Don’t sign up with a Belmont Stakes betting site unless they accept your preferred payment method. There might be hidden fees too so always read the small print before making a deposit or withdrawal.

Types of Belmont Stakes Bets

Picking the best Belmont Stakes bets will greatly enhance your prospects of finding a winner. When there is a big field it makes sense to keep things simple with single bets on the win/place/show market.

If there are less than 10 runners then it makes sense to take a punt on exotics like exactas, quinellas and trifectas. The fewer horses that run, the better chance that your exotic will hit. Find out more about the best Belmont Stakes bet types below.

  • Win/place/show

Win/Place/Show bets are very popular with Belmont Stakes bettors. It is a single wager and to win your horse must finish 1st (win bet), 1st or 2nd (place) or 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

  • Exacta

This is a single bet on the first two finishers in the exact order. Well suited to the Belmont Stakes as usually the field is relatively small.

  • Quinella

This bet is basically the same as an exacta, the main difference being that it consists of two bets and your selections can finish 1-2 in any order.

  • Trifecta

Another wager that is suited to the Belmont Stakes due to the usual smaller field size. It is a single bet which requires your horses to finish 1-2-3 in the correct order.

  • Superfecta

Again, this single wager is perfect for the Belmont Stakes when there are less than 10 runners. Similar to the trifecta except the 1-2-3-4 is required.

  • Box bet

A box bet is a variation on trifectas and superfectas. It consists of multiple bets and selections can finish 1-2-3 or 1-2-3-4 in any order.

  • Wheel betting

A wheel bet is when bettors nominate the most likely winner and then choose a number of horses they think will finish in the places behind the winner (number of places depends on the bet type). If the horse you pick as the winner loses, the bet is lost.

Belmont Stakes Betting Bonuses and Promotions

Before you have a bet on the race, make sure you check for any relevant Belmont Stakes betting bonuses and promotions. As is the case with the other Triple Crown races like the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, many betting sites have offers specifically targeted at the race.

For example, TwinSpires have run a couple of Belmont Stakes promotions in the past. One was a money-back special where you got a free bet if your horse finished 2nd. Other offers to keep your eyes peeled for include enhanced odds welcome offers or exacta/trifecta insurance.

Belmont Stakes Betting Tips and Strategy

If you have picked a betting site and registered, now it is time for the hard part to start. Finding the big race winner is not a simple task but our Belmont Stakes betting tips and strategies will make landing a winning bet a lot easier.

Obviously, these Belmont Stakes tips won’t guarantee you a winner but if you stick to the principles outlined by our experts it won’t be long until you are placing more winning Belmont Stakes bets.

  1. Kentucky Derby and Preakness Form – The Belmont Stakes is the third and final leg of the Triple Crown. The other two races, the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, often give excellent clues as to which horses will run well in the Belmont Stakes. Watch them closely and look for horses who were unlucky or had a wide trip.
  2. Stamina Counts – This is the longest of the Triple Crown races at 1m 4 furlongs. Look out for horses that were finishing off strongly in the other two Triple Crown races over shorter trips. The longer distance can often help them get into the frame.
  3. Watch The Weather – The Belmont Stakes is run on the dirt and in recent years the weather has been dry and conditions have been fast. However, if it rains it can change things massively as some horses are far more effective on a sloppy track.
  4. Get The Best Odds – It can’t be stressed enough how important it is to get the best Belmont Stake odds for win, place and show bets. Prices can vary quite considerably depending on the betting site so if you want to maximize profits, shop around to make sure you are getting the best Belmont Stakes betting odds.
  5. Exotics Worth A Look – Of the three Triple Crown races, the Belmont Stakes represents the best chance of landing a winning exacta, trifecta or superfecta. Fewer runners means less chance of an upset and while returns won’t be massive, you’ll have a better chance of getting a winning exotic on board than in the other two races.

Belmont Stakes History and Records

Belmont Park Racecourse in Elmont, New York is the venue for the Belmont Stakes. The race is usually run in early June, it was first held in 1867 and it is the final leg of the Triple Crown. Since 1977 only two horses have won the Triple Crown at Belmont, American Pharoah in 2015 and Justify in 2018, both for Bob Baffert.

The biggest shock in Belmont Stakes history came in 2002 when 70/1 outsider Sarava played the role of party pooper and destroyed the Triple Crown dreams of Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes winner War Emblem.

Baffert and Todd Pletcher have both won the race three times since 2000 so look out for their horses. They have a long way to go to catch James G Rowe who won the race eight times between 1883 and 1913. If you want to learn more about this famous race, visit the Belmont Stakes official website.

FAQs

Betting on the Belmont Stakes couldn’t be any easier. All you need to do is sign up with one of our recommended Belmont Stakes betting sites, make a deposit and place whatever wager takes your fancy.

It is fully legal to bet on the Belmont Stakes in almost 40 US States. That number is set to increase in the coming months as more and more states have applied for licenses. If you come across any unlicensed Belmont Stakes betting sites, avoid them.

The best Belmont Stakes betting sites are all listed on this page. Some bettors have different preferences and it is a matter of personal taste. For futures Belmont Stakes bets, Caesars Sportsbook is the best whereas for Belmont Stakes bonuses, TwinSpires comes out on top.

To be honest, in terms of quality, there is very little difference between the Belmont Stakes betting apps provided by the betting sites mentioned on this page. The two that stand out most are the BetAmerica and Xpressbet Apps, but the others are well worth a second look too.

The Belmont Stakes is probably the easiest race of the Triple Crown events to win a bet on. The main reasons for this are the relatively small field size (fewer horses) and also the availability of recent form guides in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness. If you want to win a bet on the Belmont Stakes, study those two races closely as the winner will more than likely come from those races.
