Hard Rock sportsbook offers a few welcome bonuses across several states where they’re available. Those promotions aren’t the best and range from $100 to $250, which is below the industry average. We also suggest you take a look at terms and conditions since wagering requirements are also on the higher side in some states.

Hard Rock sportsbook offers a great range of payment methods and some of the highest limits on the market. You can use any of the major credit/debit cards, as well as payment methods like Play+ and PayNearMe. But we suggest using PayPal for all your transactions since it’s very convenient and has the shortest withdrawal waiting times.

Overall sports and features provided

Hard Rock Sportsbook offers fewer betting options than most of its top competitors. They have a great range of markets for top US sports leagues, like NBA, NFL, and NHL. But when it comes to betting on minor sports, they fall back behind the likes of BetMGM and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Even though working hours aren’t ideal, the quality of customer support is excellent. Hard Rock support agents are well educated and you can reach them via live chat every day from 6 am to 3 pm. Additionally, you can give them a call or go through the extensive FAQs section found on their site.

We like the design of Hard Rock, but they still need to cover more sports and add extra betting features if they plan to compete with the big dogs. Their betting app also isn’t the best you can find, so consider that as well before joining.

A poor welcome bonus, no promotions, and a serious lack of sports available to bet on are just some of the reasons why Hard Rock Sportsbook takes its place near the bottom of the list of recommendations.

On

Hard Rock Sportsbook Welcome Bonus

Hard Rock Sportsbook’s welcome offer is a risk-free bet that is available in Iowa and New Jersey.

The Hard Rock Sportsbook bonus requires no code and is added to your account after your first bet settles, although the terms do differ for each state.

NJ bettors have to opt-in via the promotions page on Hard Rock Sportsbook whilst those in IA do not.

A maximum free bet of $100 is a bit pitiful by Hard Rock Sportsbook, considering other betting sites available in Iowa like BetMGM and FanDuel Sportsbook offer up to $1,000.

As well, the wagering requirements of the bonus contribute to making it unattractive but this is only relevant for Iowa bettors.

On the plus side, they will automatically credit your account with a Hard Rock Sportsbook free bet even if your first cash bet wins. Other sportsbooks only credit if it is a loss.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Bonus T&Cs

Hard Rock Sportsbook impose a 5x wagering requirement on their bonus. You will need to make at least $500 worth of wagers before you are able to withdraw your balance.

The bonus has to be used on odds of -110 or lower. This is not clear whether ‘lower’ refers to the odds or to the chance.

Only the first bet will be matched and it has to be $100 or greater to be rewarded with the free bet. It does not matter if the initial bet wins or loses.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Sports Betting

Sports betting at Hard Rock Sportsbook is not a good experience for New Jersey bettors. The layout is too simplistic and almost child-like, which is off-putting as games take up too much space on the page.

The sports offering is very poor, with only a handful available to bet on, and there are no promotions outside of the welcome offer for bettors in either state.

Hard Rock Sportsbook have separate websites for New Jersey and Iowa bettors with distinctly different layouts. If you go from using one site to the other, it is like using a completely different sportsbook.

The Iowa site is slightly better with a more developed layout and easier navigation, but it is hardly appealing compared to other major sportsbooks like BetMGM and PointsBet.

Sports Available to Bet On

Hard Rock Sportsbook have a pitiful variety of sports to bet on, offering only 13 in New Jersey and 10 in Iowa. In contrast, BetMGM have 28 and FanDuel Sportsbook boast 18.

Every game in the big four sports is available to bet on at Hard Rock Sportsbook and there are over 46 soccer tournaments, so there are at least plenty of options within each sport.

Bettors looking to wager on more niche sports should look elsewhere, though, such as at the two sites listed above.

Other Sports

Iowa bettors are particularly shortchanged by Hard Rock Sportsbook with only 10 options available, although the 13 for their NJ counterparts is scarcely much better.

Odds Comparison

The betting site offers competitive odds on most sports, which goes some way to making up for their other failings we found during the Hard Rock Sportsbook review.

They rarely have industry-leading prices but they are still in the upper tier when it comes to the odds offered.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Blog and Betting Picks

Hard Rock Sportsbook don’t offer a blog or betting picks, which sets them back. BetMGM provides the gold standard of blogs, with regular updates and relevant content being produced every day.

Blogs can be useful for new bettors who are still learning the ropes or for people who do not have time to do much research of their own.

Bet Slip

Hard Rock Sportsbook’s bet slip varies by state. Iowa’s is better as it is unobtrusive, allowing you to still see the full page to add other selections. It also offers boosted returns on parlays of three legs or more, up to a maximum of 19 selections.

It has separate tabs for straight bets, parlays, and teasers, as well as one for Bet Builder. It is not clear how to access the Bet Builder tab as adding selections that would create a Same Game Parlay on other betting sites does not have the same effect at Hard Rock Sportsbook.

The New Jersey bet slip does not have the parlay boost or Bet Builder option, and curiously there is no ability to do teasers.

Hard Rock Sportsbook’s Iowa bet slip is significantly better than the New Jersey one, and the betting site would be wise to make their NJ more like the IA bet slip.

You can easily switch between different bet types or go to the ‘My Bets’ tab and check out all your wagers.

Once you have everything settled, click the button at the bottom of the screen to confirm your bet.

Betting Markets

Hard Rock Sportsbook offers plenty of range in terms of markets but there is little depth in any of them.

Player props are particularly limited and alternate spreads are at the discretion of the sportsbook, rather than allowing the bettor to choose any number of points.

  • Moneyline
  • Totals
  • Player Props
  • Team Props

NFL

NFL betting is one of Hard Rock Sportsbook’s better offerings although it is still some way from being one of the best in the US.

Their odds are usually competitive but they are seriously let down by their lack of markets and failure to have any promotions.

As well, Hard Rock are slow at adding ample markets to games. For instance, we found that player props were not added to fixtures until the day of the game, whilst other sportsbooks include them much earlier.

Hard Rock Sportsbook certainly have a lot of room for improvement when it comes to NFL betting, with their 46 markets paling in comparison to the likes of FanDuel Sportsbook’s 147.

Football Promotions at Hard Rock Sportsbook

Hard Rock Sportsbook do not offer any football betting promotions. Having even just one would make them slightly more desirable as a betting site.

NBA

The NBA season was still some weeks away from starting at the time of this Hard Rock Sportsbook review, so the site only has very basic betting markets up.

This is the same situation as other major sportsbooks, with them all offering only spread, moneyline and totals.

Hard Rock Sportsbook will surely offer more comprehensive NBA betting when the season begins but their other sports suggest the number of markets will be fewer than their competitors.

Basketball Promotions at Hard Rock Sportsbook

Hard Rock Sportsbook do not offer any basketball promotions but this may change closer to the NBA season.

NHL

Hard Rock Sportsbook have a decent range of NHL betting markets, although they are still lacking player props with the season only a couple of weeks away from starting.

That is only on their Iowa site, though, with the New Jersey version providing only the very basic markets of moneyline, spread and total goals

Hard Rock Sportsbook do offer plenty of Futures options for bettors, more so than other major US betting sites, but there is certainly room for improvement on individual game markets.

Ice Hockey Promotions at Hard Rock Sportsbook

There are no hockey promotions available at Hard Rock Sportsbook and based on other sports, this does not seem like it will change when the season starts.

MLB

Hard Rock Sportsbook are good at adding MLB betting markets quickly, considering how thick and fast games are played. As well, their odds are extremely competitive and MLB betting is by far Hard Rock’s best offering.

The number of markets available is minimal, though, offering just 44 compared to the 92 available at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Having more markets would bring Hard Rock Sportsbook up to par with other betting sites in the US.

Baseball Promotions at Hard Rock Sportsbook

Hard Rock Sportsbook do not offer any baseball promotions. Having even just one would be a huge benefit to them considering there aren’t any other promotions in any other sports.

NCAA

There is very little college sports betting at Hard Rock Sportsbook. Although they do offer betting on every game, they have very few markets available.

State regulations in Iowa and New Jersey do prevent certain games and markets from being available to wager on, but regardless of that, Hard Rock’s college betting is still poor.

Given that BetMGM have over 100 betting markets on college football, Hard Rock Sportsbook could certainly improve with even some more markets.

NCAA Betting Promotions at Hard Rock Sportsbook

There are no college football promotions available at Hard Rock Sportsbook. It would be beneficial to both them and their customers if they were to have at least one to keep bettors interested throughout the season.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Betting Features

Hard Rock Sportsbook offers a couple of betting features to improve the betting experience, but they are quite basic and certainly not groundbreaking.

  • early cashout
    Early cashout

Hard Rock Sportsbook have early cashout available on a large range of sports and markets, including the big four and soccer.

Conveniently, they have an icon next to all markets that are available for early cashout – which is something that not every sportsbook does.

  • live streaming
    Live streaming

Hard Rock Sportsbook don’t offer live streaming.

  • bet builder
    Bet builder/Same game parlay

There is no Same Game Parlay option at Hard Rock Sportsbook.

  • easy parlay
    Easy parlay

Hard Rock Sportsbook have a ‘Trending Bets’ section on the homepage that shows a range of popular wagers at that time. These can easily be added into a parlay and you can uncheck any selections you want to leave out.

  • edit bet
    Edit bet

Hard Rock Sportsbook don’t have an Edit Bet feature.

Early cashout is an expected feature of any sportsbook and whilst Easy Parlay is common, the unique way that Hard Rock Sportsbook approach this makes it appealing.

However, no Same Game Parlay is a glaring miss by the betting site considering almost every other sportsbook in the US offers this.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Live Sports Betting

Live betting at Hard Rock Sportsbook is poor, with only a handful of leagues available to wager on.

Minor events such as tennis matches outside of majors and cricket are not offered for in-play betting, unlike they are on most other legal US sportsbooks.

There are at least some good stats to accompany games they do have live betting on, so it’s not a total loss.

Payment Methods at Hard Rock Sportsbook

Hard Rock Sportsbook provides a strong range of deposit methods, offering both online and in-person payments.

Not all of them can be used to withdraw winnings so bettors may find that they have to use a different method than the one they used to deposit.

Hard Rock Sportsbook’s variety of payment methods means there is enough for everyone, but they could improve by offering more for withdrawal.

Hard Rock Sportsbook Mobile App

Hard Rock Sportsbook have mobile apps for both iOS and Android, with each state having their own individual app. Iowa bettors need to download the app for their state and New Jersey customers the same for theirs.

The process is easier for people in Iowa as the iOS version is available on the App Store and Android on Google Play.

New Jersey bettors on iPhone will find the app in the App Store, but those on Android have to download the APK file from the Hard Rock Sportsbook site on your phone. After the file has downloaded to your phone, click on it to install it.

Android users may be asked to allow apps from unknown sources before installing.

Both Hard Rock Sportsbook’s apps are not very good experiences. Whilst the layouts are identical to the desktop site, the apps are prone to crashing and random logging out.

As well, certain buttons are consistently unresponsive which all adds up to an app that is scarcely worth downloading.

Geo-location with Hard Rock Sportsbook

You need to verify your geo-location before you can bet with Hard Rock Sportsbook, and this is done by downloading the Geocomply plugin.

The software will be available to download after you first log in on the Hard Rock Sportsbook website. Once you have installed this, it will automatically detect which state you are in and let you place wagers if you are in a licensed state.

For iPhone and Android app users, you need to make sure location services are on to be able to bet.

Is Hard Rock Sportsbook Legit?

Why You Should Join Hard Rock Sportsbook

Hard Rock Sportsbook is not a good betting site and we do not recommend joining them. They have very few redeeming features and the lack of promotions in any sport offers very little incentive to sign up.

The Hard Rock Sportsbook bonus is pitiful compared to other betting sites who offer upwards of $1,000 compared to Hard Rock’s $100, and the 5x wagering requirements really make it unattractive.

Pros
  • Competitive odds
Cons
  • No promotions
  • Poor welcome offer
  • Lack of sports
  • Bad app

There are significantly better options available in both New Jersey and Iowa, such as BetMGM and FanDuel Sportsbook.

Hard Rock Sportsbook have competitive odds but so do the two betting sites listed above, which also boast significantly better betting experiences and a wider variety of sports.

Alternatives to Hard Rock Sportsbook

Given that Hard Rock Sportsbook does very few things right and struggles to make an impact in the betting world, it would be wise to consider other options.

There are many other legal US betting sites that are far better choices and these are the best alternatives to Hard Rock:
